Summer schools of Spanish language and culture are the largest segment of short programmes, and here the country competes with itself: dozens of universities offer intensives from two to four weeks with different focuses. Universidad Católica de Ávila runs a four-week programme from 29 June to 24 July 2026, including Spanish language courses at six levels, culture and civilisation, business and medical Spanish; the cost of one four-credit course is €790, and accommodation with meals costs from €950 to €1,100. Complutense University in Madrid and the University of Salamanca offer similar formats with an emphasis on conversational practice and cultural visits. For those combining language with academic credits, Comillas Global Summer School in Madrid runs from 22 June to 17 July: courses in business, law, engineering, and language are available in English and Spanish, the cost is around €1,000 for 5 ECTS credits, and the registration deadline is 15 May 2026. |
Business courses for bachelor's and master's students are offered by IE Business School and ESADE, but their summer programmes are shorter and more expensive than those of academic schools. For most short programmes, a Schengen visa is sufficient if the stay does not exceed 90 days.
